Meet Kathleen & Jonathan Ploof

Kathleen Ploof and her son, Jonathan Ploof, are the owners of Carolina Senior Living Advisors, where they help seniors and their families navigate the process of finding the right senior living community. As a mother-and-son team with more than 30 years of combined experience in the senior care industry, they bring extensive industry knowledge, compassion, and a deeply personal understanding of the challenges families can face when making senior living decisions.

Kathleen’s career has been dedicated largely to serving older adults and their families. She previously owned nine Beltone hearing aid centers throughout New York and Vermont, working primarily with seniors and developing relationships with independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing communities throughout the region.

After selling her business and relocating to South Carolina, Kathleen continued her work in senior living as a Sales and Marketing Coordinator with Holiday Retirement. Her success led to opportunities to travel and assist other Holiday Retirement communities where additional sales and marketing support was needed.

Kathleen later became the Marketing and Sales Director for Harmony Collection at Columbia, a large senior living community with nearly 200 apartments. She has also volunteered with several nonprofit organizations throughout the Midlands, further strengthening her connection to the local community and the families she serves.

Her professional experience is complemented by a deeply personal understanding of the challenges families can face as a loved one ages. Kathleen stepped away from her career for two and a half years to care for her mother, who was living with dementia, until her passing. That experience gave Kathleen firsthand insight into the emotional, practical, and often overwhelming decisions families encounter when caring for someone they love.

Kathleen has also been licensed in health and life insurance in New York, where she worked with long-term care policies, Medicare supplements, and other insurance products focused on the needs of older adults.

Today, Kathleen and Jonathan bring their experience and family-centered approach together through Carolina Senior Living Advisors. They understand that choosing senior living is about much more than finding a community—it is about finding the right environment, level of support, and quality of life for each individual. Their goal is to provide families with knowledgeable, compassionate guidance and make the senior living search clearer, less overwhelming, and more personal.
